The protestors asked the Danish government to officially apologize for these drawings and punish the newspaper which published it, and the artist who drew it. To put pressure on the Denmark, Muslims started to boycott Danish products, and most of the Islamic countries sent letters of protest to the Denmark. Some countries are trying diplomatic pressure, like Libya which closed it's embassy in the Denmark. The Danish government explained that it is not responsible for these drawings nor it has any control over the newspaper which publish it, and this a matter of freedom of expression which is granted by it is constitution. Also the government expressed it's respect to Islam as a major world religion.
Islam prohibits any drawings of Muhammad, and definitely a sarcastic drawing is something considered unforgivable offense against Islam.
As a former Muslim, I do not agree with these drawings, but I do salute the courage of the Danish people and their government to stand for their basic rights despite the pressure and the blackmail they are facing from the Muslim world; of whom want to force the Danish to apologize for having freedom of expression. For this I say: Hail the Danish People... The following is the drawings which caused this crisis.
